Kitulo National Park Trip

On 15th Jan Rob and I went on a short trip to Kitulo National Park, Liz and Jobst de Leyser kindly arranged the trip, Allan and Jo Meyers joined us for a part of the way. We had a marvelous time and
thoroughly enjoyed staying at Utengule Coffee Farm Lodge near Mbeya.

Here are a few pics to show what Kitulo is like. The scenery along the way is spectacular which makes it an interesting and beautiful drive all the way up.

Once on the top of the plateau it feels like another world. We were very lucky with the weather, as the rain held off until we left. It got pretty chilly when the sun disappeared though. A huge blanket of cloud enveloped us as we left the high grassland which added to the drama of the place it was very atmospheric.

The steep descent into the Usangu Plain was along an old, but much used road that had 57 hairpin bends! Spectacular stuff!

Best Wishes, Sue
